Default Ground Clearance on p650

What's the actual ground clearance on our 650's? I've read an article done by ATV Rider Magazine and it puts the prairie at 7.6 inches. where is that being measured? Sounds kinda off, maybe not! anyone out there actually measured in the center? And finally those of you who put Bigger tires on, what was the difference before and after? Been sick with the Flu ever since I got the 27's on and never had a chance to Ride or get measurements Thanks all!!

well, The p.650 at the center of the chassi with stock tires is 9.8 and at the back shaft is 7.6. With 27 in tires the ground clearence should raise a few more inches in both places depending on your air pressue.

Depending on the specs of the individual tires that you use, each time you go up a size, you will gain 1/2 inch clearance. But there is a tradeoff on weight. Bigger tires weigh more, more rotating mass takes away power and robs your low end torque. Also, a taller tire will change your final gear ratio, taking away from your intial launch.

Ha,ha,ha. Just seeing if anyone is awake here, pretty dead over there on the Cat forums.
The Prairies 650/700s are excellent sport ulti 4wheelers & when I had my P650 I had 27 inch Mudunners on it, which really improved the ground clerance, made deep snow riding a blast. Took some power to pull those taller/wider tires, did change the overall gearing a bit but in the long run it was a blessing to have those 27 inch meats on the Prairie.

Ya! I really enjoy snow riding so I figured that 27's would set me up alot better! I really liked the mudrunners when I had them on mine but the 25's actually measured 24 and something so thats pretty low! those 27's look huge in your pics though.......I'd rather have the traction and ground clearance...I can live with a little power loss, and with the 650's thats still tons of power!
