WHere do you get a seconday spring, and where does it go? I have only 36 miles on mine, and I have only 1 small shim left, I don't think the belt is going to last ling! Thanks.........Ernie

You can get the black secondary spring from EPI. Their website is http://www.erlandsonperformance.com/

How does the black spring prolong belt life, and what effect does it have on performance?

I put a P-700 belt in my 650 and now when in low range the belt chatters when the eng. Brake kicks in. Doesn’t happen in high range. Thought my shifter might need adjustment, but it was fine before. Any thoughts anyone?

CUSTOMFAB,
Last summer, I conducted timed runs at 100' and 300' and top-speed runs too in an effort to see if the EPI black spring affected performance and I reported the details on this forum. I found that the EPI black spring had no real impact on acceleration or top-speed on my quad (I have 25" tires). NOTE: I have no idea if the results would be any different if I had taller tires than 25".

DAVINATOR,
My P650 did the exact same thing (when eng. brake kicked in on a downhill descent) soon after I installed the P700 belt...I noticed that after it broke in with a 100 miles (more or less), it stopped doing that and I haven't noticed it happening since. I can't explain why it happened.

Happy trails...

I had the same situation; adjusting the shift rod one turn fixed the problem. Step by step on the tech tips site.
