thats how they make money. you do a reveiw on my quad (favorable of course) and i'll take a couple ad spots in your mag. the better the reveiw the more ads i pay for. just like politicians you give me bribes, i mean donations and i'll well you get my drift.

Maybe they'll do a shootout one day with all 200+ lb. riders and call it "The Men's Sport Quad Shootout".

You hit it DEAD on the MONEY. They are always X Racers that they get to test them. Have you ever noticed that they always say they have Novice riders test them too, but you never get to hear their opinions?

I don't tend to give these shootouts too much credit, I simply read them and take the information that is meaningful to me, and disregard the info that is meaningless to me. It's all a matter of interpretation. We all know what the magazine is going to say even before we read it. It's predictable. The Bomb guys have realized this along time ago and just don't give a D*m anymore. But, even the Modded Raptor guys know better than to mess with a Modded DS.

We need to rethink this whole situation. Think about it, the best part of it is, that when these guppies that read the Shootouts and believe all the dribble they read, actually come across one of us with a few mods as simple as Duals and a Spring, and get their butts handed to them, the surprised look on their face, is half the fun of it. Besides, I like all of the pretty pictures in the magazines.

Granted they magz usually are nothing but pure BS!! The reason they get "racers" to ride them is because they would truly test them far beyond the capabilites that we would test them!! For example, I ride the Pro-Am class here in my state in MX on my bikes which would be considered our "A" class but not called that class!!! Though I can ride very well as compared to 90% of the people in my state, the pro's like Ricky Carmicheal, Chad Reed, Bubba Stewart etc, could test my bikes and any bike on a level that I wouldnt be able to imagine being able to do!!! They test them to the limits! The best way to explain this is a 2 or 3lb difference in a quad or 1hp difference on a bike can't be really felt or known to riders like us, but those pro's can actually tell the difference with that little of an increase in the machine!!! So typically your going to get a racer's point of view!!! Also, you can call me a hater if you want but just like they ALWAYS pick the Prairie the winner of the "UTILITY" 4x4 segment every time "SIMPLY" becuase of how fast it is and not "WHERE" it can go which should be the true defining reason for picking a winner out of 4x4 quads!!! The TRX and YFZ are in a class all their own, the YFZ is IMO better suspended pound for pound than is the DS650's or V-Force, but it also has a purpose for being that way!! So until "WE" as forum members to our own evaluations and write them down then we will never know! But even then there would still be disagreements like there are now!! Cuz someone would still say this or that is wrong with the article! So where is the means to an end?????

Actually it does'nt! Its a 700CC V-Twin putting out almost the same exact HP as the YFZ and TRX450's!!! Plus out the gate, the YFZ and TRX will roost it!!! That I know from experience!

You remember that EVERYTIME the PRAIRIE "WINS" the shootouts because of how "fast" it is and nothing else!

You're funny

Thats what he always says. Its his only argument half of the time. We are just used to it now and kind of ignore it. He has some decent input when it doesnt have to do with comparing a yamaha he owns to another quad that he doesnt.

TellicoGrizz660,

As usual, you miss the point completely. What Tim Farr, Cory Elis or any other past, present or future pro can do on a given quad, doesn't amount to a hill of beans as far as 99.9% of the quad riding public looking for in a new ATV is concerned. Therefor in the REAL World, these shootouts conducted with X Pro riders don't carry too much credability. That's why I just look at the Pictures.

Lets see, how will he turn this statement into an opportunity to rip on the P700? You know it's coming!

The Praire has never won a shoot out because of how fast it is , the praire wins all the shoot outs because it has the most power , best handling , best brakes , and just generally puts the biggest smile of the test rides faces.

No Low end thats got to be one of the better jokes I've heard In the Atv world, hammer the throddle and stock there is a slight pause, but then you better hold on for life or you will be on your ***, seen it havent experienced it, I personally dont own a V but my ridin partner just got one a week or so ago, I cant stay off it whenever I go I need to take it for a burn, I would Rather still have my P700, But damn That V700 runs, Ever think ATV action Is owned by the shootout winner?? That Is the only Logical reason I can figure for such a review
