Default LT500 vs DS vs V-force ?'s

OK, here's the deal. I sold my 90 Zilla to buy an 04 DS Baja X for $6300. I still have some "issues" to work out so I can get a good interest rate on the financing, so it won't be real quick before I get one, but soon enough. But needless to say, the V-force has caught my attention.

Anyway, I like the size of the DS, because its sized like my LT's ( I still have an 87 I need to buy some more stuff for-I robbed it to get the 90 running to sell) and I've read quite a bit about the DS and I'm impressed so far. Now for all the ?'s............

Is it big and roomy feeling?
I'm 6'3" and 250#'s

How's the power output?
I'm used to a modded 87 Zilla.

How's the riding characteristics?
Can't be any worse than the LT.

Are mods very pricey to compete with other big bores?

Reliabilety?

And finally, I ride a lot of open fire roads, woods trails, fields, and frozen lakes in the winter, so I don't need a MX'r or Duner for anything. Any input on how it goes in snow? And, even though I know I shouldn't, me and the old lady ride double quite often. Any views on how the pass. comfort may be?

Hopefully someone has a lot of seat time on both a DS and VF to have good comparisons.

Well, thanks for any and all help!!!

EDIT: And could you please share your OTD prices? Thanks

I think that the ds is faster and would be more like the lt500. The suspension on the ds has more travel like 11 and 12 inches. In the shoot outs the ds had a higher top speed like 75 than the v force. If u like the auto then the v force would be good. They are both fast and fun.

I just got a v for my wife (well sort of) and its a blast to ride. Plenty of power even in stock form. If you are a big guy like me (300) 6' then you will love it.See it didn't take a good week to reply

I was getting worried!! I showed the old lady a pic of the lava LE and she loves the look a lot more than the DS. And she doesn't like to use a clutch. Myself, I really like the shaft drive and reverse. Maybe I'm too old at 27, but cleaning, oiling, and adjusting chains is getting to be a pain ( I have a motorcyle to do that to, also), and many a times I wished to go backwards w/o pushing on the QZ. I'm already talking my self into getting the KFX instead of the Baja!! Well, thanks for the replies!!

Do yourself a favor and don't get the lava, the plastic breaks when it touches anything.

I have both machines, and I payed 6600 OTD for both machines.

YOU PERSONALLY will probably like tehh extras teh DS has over the V. Better suspension, better weight bias. Motor top-end power, BIULT LIKE TANK! Rotax engine is superb!!! The DS is alot more "plush" then the V, the seat ,and suspenion make your BUTT GRIN

The positives for the v-force would be the EASE of operation(your wife can get on and start riding easily). The V-force has a very smooth power delivery that is decieving. Of-corse with any ATV, Mods help, but the V-force responds very well to Mods.

You really cant go wrong with either, I enjoy both of mine, but I am partial to my DS.

BIgger.

I have both the Baja X and the V Force... The V is actually my wifes ride that I bought for her. She really likes the auto and reverse features but I have to tell ya...I really like it too!! The smoothness and the power of the V really suprised me when test riding it. But when I got it out on the dunes and fire roads the thing was a blast to ride. It dosn't have the suspension (ride) that the DS does (no quad does, IMO) but it's still very comfortable and solid feeling. I wouldn't trade my DS for one becuase thats the kind of quad I like to ride. I like the power of the rotax, the plush "all day ride" of the DS suspension and the way you can just grab gears and pull up anything!! I really like them both for what they are!! So to sum it up......buy one of each!!! :-)
