PINK SPRINGS AND SHIMS???
#11
When people say they run the pink spring and 2 shims, does this mean the stock shim plus 1 additional one?
Someone said the max was 3 shims, is this 3 total or 3+ the factory for a total of 4?
Thanks for the help, shims arriving this week.
By the way the new muzzy exhaust I put on is awsome. Thanks to everyone on the list for info and advice.

Right now I'm running the Dalton blue with one extra shim. I like it alot. Still does well on the trails yet is much better than stock for drag racing. I believe the Dalton blue and EPI pink are very close.
Rich, by raising the stall it does change the throttle response. The bike comes stock with a primary that has zero stall, meaning that you will start moving as soon as you give it throttle. With a higher stall spring you will have to give it a bit more throttle before it engages and you start to move. It doesn't take long to get used to the higher stall. I didn't even notice it after a few minutes on the trail the first time I rode with the blue spring. Needless to say a higher stall spring will amplifiy the "lag time" when starting from a start, to a certain extent. I know I wouldn't what much more stall than I have now for the trails I ride as it would make it very difficult while trying to crawl through some of the rocky hill climbs.

Thanks Bigsaint,
I appreciate your response, but I'm still alittle in the dark as far as what performance gains there are in a lag in throttle response, am I missing something here? Thx again, Rich

there are 2 benifits... 1st, it puts the engine more into the power band, which allows a faster rev time ( for draging, the goal is to rev to just below the engagement rpm... this will cut down on the lag time, & still allow more power at take off )... 2nd, the instant punch, of the stall, will often break the tires loose, reducing the amount of wheelie pulled at the start of a drag...
