Yeah, the mud flaps actually do weigh alot...
heel guards do too.....but I still don't know if i should take mine off....I do alot of jumping and wheelies....so I feel the heel guards should stay....but their so heavy.!..
any input on what to do guys...keep or not to keep
but actually.....ALOT of weight from the lakota ....is the Engine!.....i remember hearing it weighs like 118 pounds or somethin!.....but i could be wrong!
but what to do with the heel guards!~?
thanks~

I don't know how much the engine weigh's but I do know that part of the reason it is heavy is cause it is an air coolled engine. A water cooled engine with the same displacement weighs quite a bit less.
One thing I haven't heard (read) anyone say (write) is that the battery is too big and heavy. I am going to try and find and equivilant battery that weighs a lot less. I am thinking I could save several points in the battery and battery box along. I also want to relocate the battery somewhere under the seat. I'm hoping to have enough room when I remove the air box system.

For the additional safety, I wouldn't remove the heel guards. Even if you have nerf bars. There is a lot of room for a foot to slip under a tire if you do not have mud flaps or heel guards to prevent this. A little prevention goes a long way. There was a post about a week ago, where a dragster got his leg caught under his tires . Not good, from the sounds of it, he won't be riding anytime soon. An ounce of prevention goes along way. JMO. I'd try and shave weight from somewhere else.
P.S. I'll try and find that thread.
