Belt measurement
#1
I recently removed my 02 P650 belt and mesured the wear on it as my belt was always squealing on take off. It measured in at 27.5mm which is below the replacement measurement of 28.8. I went to the local kawi dealer and was about to purchase a P700 belt but when I measured it, it was only 28.5mm which is below the replacement measurement???? Has anyone else measured their new belt before installing it. If so what were your results. I used a digital vernier caliper to measure the belt.
Thanks guys.

Probably hundreds or at least dozens of guys have put P700 belt on their P650's, yours truly included. I wouldn't worry about the measurement if it's squealing on takeoff, it needs unshimming or replacement with the P700 belt. I took out a 1.4 mm, put in .6, then .8, finally a 1.0mm. Getting pretty good at it.

What is the diff between the 700 and 650 belt, anyhow?I see lots of guys putting 700 and 360 belts in their 650's, but why?I thought I also read that there was something different in the side angle of the 360 belts.
Can someone explain this clearly, please?

Local dealer looked up p650 and p700 belt for me and said they are both the exact same part #. Wondering if they quit making the 650 belt or something, but he did show me the part # and they are the same.

Mikeyboyesq was talking to Kawi customer svc and was told that the P700 belt was made of a more durable material than the P650 belt. I've read this elsewhere also.
On the P360 belt angle, it comes up from the inside at the sheave angle and then turns back in just below the smaller outer teeth.
Part numbers from my dealer in January below...maybe they've changed, but these numbers were correct then.
P360: 59011-1084
P650: 59011-1080
P700: 59011-0003
