After market air filters worth the money?
#1
I have a 700 prairie and have a snorkel ,dial-a-jets ,and a HMF pipe as well as the other usual mods and was looking at going to a aftermarket air filter, but was told it would not make any difference and that the snorkel was enough. Just wondering if running a aftermarket filter makes a difference or should I bother. If it is a improvement then wich filter works well?
Thanks jeremy

all aftermarket filters will filter and flow better. Twin Air is the best in my opinion and for only 25 bucks they are a bargain. K&N is to expensive and doen't filter as well as Twin Air, but is still better than stock. this is just my opinion.
i say yes they are worth getting.

IMO, "most" aftermarket filters flow better than "most" stock filters, however the differences are very marginal... you have already taken care of the biggest restriction, IMO, the stock snorkle, & next, the pipe... most people have a tendancy to over oil thier filter... this ineffect, reduces greatly the amount of air flowing through the filter... IMO, the K&N, while its clean, may not filter as fine a partical of dust as the dual layer foam filter, it does take longer to plug, filters even better as it does get dirty, & it does flow much more air... where the aftermarket filters become really worth the money, is at the end of a long & dusty ride / race... while when dirty, all filters are going to have reduced air flow, the aftermarket filters will flow more air, both when clean, & when dirty, so at the end of a long dusty ride, the improved air flow of an aftermarket filter, may be worth the extra money... the K&N filters get a bad rap, mostly because owners neglect to grease the sealing edges, which IMO, should be done on all filters...

Hey, I just ordered the new Dyna CDI today.... Does anyone have a link/links that give good details on the other mods... ??
- snorkle
- exhaust
- airbox
- clutch
- springs
etc
Also.. any input on how the Dial-a-jet would work with the new CDI??

I installed the K&N filter on my V Force and it definitely flows a bit more air than the stock filter. I was using the stock air filter with my Yoshimura duals and I had to rejet after I installed the K&N.
