newbie question on starting v-twin
#1
Hello to everyone on this cool forum.Just bought a p700 and havin
a tough time gettin to start when cold.First i turn on gas, second
i fully choke and without touching the throttle i hit the green button.
Turn starter over then let cool.Turn and let starter cool, back and
forth until she starts fifteen minutes later. Is this normal and if
not how do you guys start your v-twins? Thanks for any answers,

Simster's right, difficult to start. Full choke is a no no, at least for mine. I just turn my choke lever very little, until I start to feel tension on the cable. Usually a couple of revolutions like this will do. One thing you must do, however, is barely crack the throttle open, mine won't start without doing that.

Here is MY ritual for starting: Choke FULL on, hold throttle about 1/3 open until engine starts. Works for me. Mine starts all the time. I rode this winter, all winter and had no trouble getting the P-700 to start. Doesn't seem to matter WHAT the ambient temp is. If the engine is cold, it wants full choke to start, then the choke comes OFF quickly.
