P700 for towing?
bur252, So far my belt had last longer then my first Tranny on my Ruby, no kidding, new tranny after 40 miles was probably a lemon, factory problem but still. Need new tranny, so I was gonna go with a polaris at the time honda were sticking to their product and gave me a new quad. (I not going over lots detail ie: Lawyer's letter and Honda International but they gave me a new one) And With my P 700 I've got a 5 years warranty, slightly better than the 6 months warranty offered by Honda...
Belt is only a detail, we changed a belt in 50 miles in the wood and took 1/2 hour. I had to get towed 40 miles with the wife with me on the Ruby.
As far as the question between belt and automotive tranny style well Nyroc's made it clear, in 2004 kawy had proved their quad same has honda, polaris, Yamaha and the others... But the P700 is a true working horse....

ditto nyroc....sounds like you're looking for proof here. Sorry, but nobody has run tests on the conditions you are going to use the bike for. You could talk to Kawi about their testing....might convince you one way or another. Most reliable quad ever made? Nobody knows for sure. Sometimes you just got to do your own homework, then decide. Good luck. Let us know what honda and kawi engineers tell you.
p.s.: changing the belt is a minor maintenance item.

Guys thanks for the replies, they are greatly appreciated . . . nyroc I am asking the questions because I want to make a sound decision, and you guys who use these quads daily are the best to ask. Long term durability is important as I want the quad to last. I don’t mind a little maintenance, but would not want to be at it every 50 to 100 hours of use. Most of the locals think that anything outside of the Honda is a mistake, not sure why as most would not have experience with other makes.
BTW, I am leaning toward the kawi, but its looks like it will be a while before I get a chance to try one . . . job transfer on the horizon
Thanks and happy riding.
