Default A few more modules & springs, at the drag strip...

Well I'm finally getting time to enter the data from my last trip to the drag strip... this time I tried the High Lifter ICM ( which we ran out of time, to run on the modified quad, last time )... I also re-ran the DGR Hole Shot ( one of the best performers from the last test ), to compare these 2 on the same day, same conditions... these modules were both run ( again ), with the 700 spring, with no shims, as a high stall spring, may over-ride some of the bottom end modules effectiveness...

Hole Shot Module with the 700 spring, on the modded quad

60' ............. 1.989 seconds
330' ........... 6.136 seconds
1/8 mile ...... 9.971 seconds
1/8 speed ... 62.04 mph
1/4 mile ...... 16.082 seconds
1/4 speed ....67.74 mph

High Lifter ICM with the 700 spring, on modded quad

60' ............. 1.979 seconds
330' ........... 6.139 seconds
1/8 mile ...... 10.00 seconds
1/8 speed ... 61.61mph
1/4 mile ...... 16.888 seconds
1/4 speed ....67.18 mph

Springs tested...EPI Pink, Polaris Yellow, & O.E. 700 ... tests were performed both with & with out the Hole Shot module, except for the 700 spring, which was only tested with the module...

Hole Shot module, Pink spring, modded quad

330' ........... 6.196 seconds

1/8 mile ......10.154seconds

Mike what do you have in 4 a secoundary spring?

Do you have a HPD plain to test?
I have heard that it works great on a modded V.

Thanks 4 the info.

Thanks kawituner for the good information. It would by nice to compare all this on a 700 praire. It also would be nice to know just how much you loose with the 26" tires on a drag race. Anybody have any idea?

O.E. = Original Equipment ( stock )

I have gotten my best speeds with a set of 26" Goodyear MTR Radials, but most quads see the fastest times with the very light weight stock tires...

I have the stock secondary spring... I never slip a belt, ( even with my 28" Zilla's ), so never saw the need to do the "black" spring... I do have the 360 belt in... only because my local dealer didn't have a 700 belt, last time I needed a belt...

ALright let me get this straight, you got the fastest times with the stock primary spring. And what about the secondary spring. My buddy has a v-force with the epi set of springs. Should i tell him to run stock primary. He does have a high stall as well.

MURDR... the V Force has much different charictoristics than the Prairie... & drag racing surfaces ( Sand, Loose pack, hard pack, & asphalt ) all require different tires & set ups... if he is running with no wheelie bar, some Force owners like to run a higher stall spring, to spin the tires, & keep the front end down... but IMO, if the quad spins ( such as in sand or loose pack ), a high stall spring will really slow you down... also, with a wheelie bar, on a high traction surface, what I'm seeing, is better times if I can keep the tires from spinning... I.E. using a lower stall spring... alot of V Force owners right now, are switching to the Dalton orange / blue... & this spring has worked well for me... look for a better more inclusive spring test, later...

Mike, it appears that the O.E. 700 spring worked best in these tests. What would be your pick for trail riding?

For the types of trails I ride, I still like the 700 Spring ( which is the one thats been in most when I trail ride )... I'd like to spoend more trail time with the EPI Pink, & the Dalton orange / blue... but also bear in mind that I have the KBEC disconnected, & the springs shift out / stall also effect the engine braking, both with & with out the KBEC... also with the addition of shims ( I've heard up to 3 ), it with raise the stall about 100 rpm each, as well as effect the shift out...then there are the weights... basically I've just begun to scratch the surface of CVT tuning, & will dive in with both feet, when I get a CDI, & machine my primary's...
