Default Instant On 4 Wheel drive

There were some posts on this in the past--but they seem to have died away---anyone know why when we click on 4 wheel drive it takes so long to engage?????? I would love to bypass whatever it is to get it to go on immediately.

I seem to recall that Mike W. posted here about a month ago (give or take) that when unplugged/disconnected his KEBC wires, he noticed one side effect was that his 4x4 engagement was much faster or perhaps instant.

Happy trails...

Hey Newbeatle---what connection can you make with the KEBC affecting the 4 wheel drive???? It almost seems like it is some kind of electrical delay slowing the transition down.----and lazy is a good way of describing the delay. And when you say removed, did you just take the fork out or did you do something else??

I do believe it was built in, to help eliminate broken parts...

I do believe the connection to "speedier" engagement is electrical... both the 4 X 4 & KBEC use the same controller ( the "other" big black box inder the seat )...

I have completely removed my actuator, ( I'm running a V Force belt cover ( $40.00 local dealer price ), benifits include no belt trip switch, no KBEC actuator, & a drain plug, that is not available on the Prairie covers )... I'm running the Dalton V Force primary cover ( which should have no effect on 4 X 4 engagement ), & I have cut the green / white striped wire, that feeds the KBEC fault circuit to the display... if I had to guess, I'd say that unplugging the actuator was what effected the engaugement, however, I honestly didn't notice it, until the Green / white striped wire was cut...
