Default CARB COOLANT LINES ON OR OFF. READ THIS

My carbs run at 150 to 200 degrees with no coolant lines and the jugs are at 170 degrees.Engine temps-coolant 200 to 215 hard riding(JT temp gauge).I use a Raytek temp gun also,You may need to see if it is temping right.Fill a glass with ice and water, let it set for 7 to 9 mins.Temp it to see if you get 32 degrees.

this riding is done below 20 mph for 30-40 minuites through extremly tight woods and up hills.
i use a digatron temp gauge from my Go Kart when i did this for coolant temp
and a brand new laser raytek gun from snapon dealer which is definatly correct.

i can also feel it is getting hot when my Muzzy exhaust starts frying my leg.

faster wide open riding i have checked and carbs float bowls they are right around 200-220 degrees w/ lines now back on .
slower more technical riding temps go way up to 275 about w lines on.

cylinder heads are temping out at 320 deg either way

on saturday i rode it 100+ miles and it didn't feel like it did with the carb lines off. throttle response and acceleration was excellent all the time.

I am leaving mine hooked up. I feel MINE runs more consistent like this. and mabye better gas mileage too.

I will just leave mine hooked up. I have never had a heat issue. 199 hours and 1658 miles.

I think it is most important to make sure your carbs suck the coolest air possible, more than whether the carb heater is on or not.

I never took my coolant lines off either, but on the other hand I haven't been interested in beating anyone. I wonder if you guys were using Evans NPG+ coolant your head temps would go down, and your carb temps would go down. That would mean more power.

I have been thinking, "yeah I know....scary", I believe I will try the larger jets out just to see if the fan doesnt run as much. The way I have opened up the air intake with that front screen might be giving mine a lean condition. The plugs always look good but I can never check them at the most oportune time.

I will run this by the dealer and also get a price quote on the 03 airbox conversion.

Paul, aka nyroc, this reply was meant for you, I just didnt feel like sending a pm.
