bodab, i new it was one of those.
s2mikey what happens when you dig out those ruts even deaper than what they are now, thats right YOUR stuck. SRA has been around for a long time, and they have been everwhere a IRS quad will go.
i did get the chance to pull out a BF, my prairie made it through. HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA.
the only reason i brought this back up is to make ppl laugh.

Where is this "improved" ride on the IRS people are talking about? I haven't rode the BF, but I've sat on one. I've rode the Grizzly, KQ, AC and Polaris...have yet to be impressed by the IRS. They seem to be set up so stiff to make up for squatting they hardly seem "independent" at all. Plus I watched them test drive one on ATV TV and you can see the IRS is hardly even working its so stiff. I'll pass on the all the $$$ down the road to maintain all that extra stuff for SRA..ANYDAY. Prairie rains supreme!!
To each his own...

Also, they can't make them too soft because they bikes would squat too much and control would be affected.

agree, I put a trailer on mine quite a bit, and I sport ride quite often. I just can't see the IRS adding up to anything good for me. Plus here when its cold in the winter, that suspension and drive shafts are getting pretty stiff anyway. I"ve seen IRS getting so packed full of mud and grass its not doing anything. I just can't justify it in my book. But I like the fact its pretty fast for a UTY!
Think I'll be keeping my prairie for quite awhile, just keeps on impressing me. A good manufacturer will suit the needs of all customers, Kawi seem to be doing a good job right now.

Deerchooper,
Its been awhile since I was down this way. You were asking what I was up to these days. Well how does a 1300cc Rincon sound. I have welded together another cylinder onto the already Rincon motor to have a twin cylinder 1300cc. I have it running but it will not work with the corresponding transmission control system. Now that there is more power I need the shift points to be changed and the output of the tranny to be changed as well. So far I am working with an Automotive Autotransmission Mechanic to adjust the tranny. It is going slow but promising.
In my stable I just required a DS Baja that was converted to Alcohol and it was siezed. I got it unseized, made it run sold the engine and have orderd a new Kawi 750 triple 2 stroke with a 6 speed tranny. This is a new concept on an old proven platform, I raced an H2 Back in the 70's on the 1/4 mile before I got into my Harleys. This new motor will put out 120 hp on pump gas with a possible outcome of 220HP on the Juice. This engine will go into my DS, I chose the DS as it is the best platform for Dragging and the odd sand dune weekends. There is a lot of support for the DS quads and with the Kawi 750 triple it should be dynomite combination.
May 24th long weekend here I will be attempting to break 100 mph with my P700 at the Army base at Cold Lake they have a very long runway a possible emergency runway for the shuttle if it needed an alternate. The Airforce personnel are very helpful they will supply emergency staff in case of injury, ( or they want to see a crazy Canuck crash, lol).
Apart from that I read one of these threads and I agree that most IRS machines are mushy on the back end. They give me the creeps going up hill and giving it the gas. The only IRS machine that truly gets my respect is the Outlander from BRP, it will lift the back end when you give it gas. It is set up towards the Stadium truck suspensions with a trailing link. This so far is the only system that I believe is stable. If any of you have ridden a shaft drive motorcylcle you will notice how the back end lifts as you give it gas. The same thing happens with the Outy puts more pressure on the front end. Up untill now it has had a 400cc power plant, substandard especially after having the Kawi V-twin power between your legs. Soon hopefully BRP will install a larger power plant in their Outy this is what I am waiting for!!!
So far Kawi V-Twin will give you the most power for the least amout of coin of all the name brands. We don't need an 800 or 1000cc engine when we can change our 633 to a 730 and will have more performance than a 800cc big bore!!! I find my quad is at the point it is almost to the point of to scary for the woods but mix in a little juice and it will rip up 300 feet of track. Something to see when sport quads don't want to race you because they now they will lose.
Keep up the informative posts take care have fun.
