13 tooth sproket worth it!!!

Is a 13 tooth sproket worth getting or will i loss a lot of bottom end! I like the snap my quad has now, but it maxes out way to quick!! I'm great at wheelies in 1,2,3, 4th gear so i don't really want to give that up!! Also do you have to get a new chain when you put on the 13 tooth sproket!! *Thanks*

The 13t sprocket was the best $7 I've spent on my Mojave, but I made the move after going down to 20" tires. Talk about geared low, you could actually take off in 4th without even sliipping the clutch. I still want to go up a few teeth on the back but I can't find em anywhere online. Everyone only carries the stock sizes. The chain you have will work fine with a 13t sprocket...

Its took me about 20 minutes to install the 13 tooth sprockets on both mine and my wife's Lakotas, and yes, it is really worth it. It actually makes the Lakota work better in the low gears, beacuse it is geared a bit too low anyways, but gives a bit more top end. All you have to do is loosen the chain (reverse the chain tightening instructions) and remove the sprocket cover, and use an impact wrench to take the nut off the shaft, pull off the sprocket, put the new one on, I used a drop of loc-tite, and re-tighten. Nothing to it, it has large splines, so it slides off and on real easy. You don't even have to remove the chain or undo the master link.
By the way, the loc-tite isn't necessary, because of the way the shaft spins when you ride, it is always holding it tight, but I use loc-tite for alot of things that don't need it...

96lapiscoupe, wouldn't you want to go down in teeth in the rear?
My buddy has a Lakota with 22's and it is more ridable with the 13 tooth. The low end isn't reduced enough that it hampers the bike. The Lakota has a lot of bottom end and, but is geared too low for most riders. The K&G clutch kit also made an improvement. The only complaint with the kit was the extra stiff springs. When all 4 were installed the shifter was more than a little stiff.
