engine braking system
hello randynj700, welcome to the forums.
check the fuses under your seat. your kebc fuse may be blown. also check to see if you have any mud or dirt in the kebc plug, if so clean and use dielectric grease to seal from water.

the Kebc is a little round thing on top of your clutch, but the fuse for the kebec is under the seat. It is the thing that rattles when you shut your machine off, if you still hear it rattle then your fuse is ok. I also would recommend that you check your gear adjustment becuase that's the main problem for going down steep hills. Try low range. Also it is possible your belt could need a adjustment.

It's time for you to check your motor mounts anyway, and I have heard that loose mounting bolts will interfere with engine braking. Also, look for cracked mounts as a precaution.
Checking motor mount bolts is a regular maintenance item for a lot of guys, because they sometimes are shipped untorqued, or they can loosen up by vibrating on rocky trails, etc. Never had a problem with mine though. Going to wash it tomorrow and also check bolts and mounts. Good luck.
