What's the best kind of oil to run in my 04 700. I have 45 hours and think it needs a change. I ride alot between 4,000-10,000 feet. Thanks Joey

I use Mobil 1 and the viscosity depends on the ambient temp. Just use the good stuff (not wal-mart or dollar store crap and change it every so often). Remember it only takes a couple of quarts so treat her right.

Yeah, its fully synthetic. I change my oil and filter pretty often, around 300 no more than 400 miles. I spend around $24 in oil changes if I buy the factory filter. I recently found a close out on K&N filters at a dealer in Bristol, VA for $3 each, I bought all they had which was 5. A quart of the Mobil oil cost me $8.55 after taxes and 7.99 before.

Auto Zone is the only one around who carries it. I dont care to much for the guys working at Auto Zone and from now on I will buy Amsoil from someone or get a perfered customer plan.

I'm using amsoil 5w40 but I've heard that 0w40 is an oil specifically geared for atv use. I might give that a try next time.

KOD is that not a little much to be changing a synthetic oil every 300-400 miles. I have read that synthetics can last thousands of miles. Actually I read somewhere that AMSOIL is rated to last for 15,000 miles. I usually change my oil every 600 - 1000 miles. Should I be changing more frequently?

Spliffstar, I just do what feels right for me. 800 miles may be perfectly fine before changing oil. I know when I change my oil at around 350 miles its totally as black as black can get. There again, it may get that black after 50 miles, I dont know. I just do what feels right for me. I went to the Amsoil site but it would tell me what my exact discount would be when placing an order. It said I would save between 15-20%. I may get nyroc to go in 50/50 as a prefered customer.
