The plus to a 300 is that warn makes a 4-2-4 unlocker for the front wheels. They claim to not make one for the 400 because of space limits. You dont see too many people on here with 300's and 400's. I see that as a good thing kind of, as most people dont look for a forum or post unless they have a problem..... But on the other hand, its hard to get many answers about them.
I did ride a 300 before I got the 400. I would get a 400 if at all possible, much more torque. I have 1300 trouble free miles on my belt, and ive never cracked it open! I ride with 650's, 700 SP's, 660 Grizzly's, and while they outrun me on a flat out straight. I have no trouble keeping up through the trails or mudd. I also dont have to head back to the start of the trail for gas as much.
Engine braking is as stated, just feather the throttle, and you will feel the clutch kicking in and out, no actuators.

I totally forgot, they make the Warn locker and the selectable 2WD kit.

gidday gentlemen,
I recently had my '01 prairie 300 4x4 out in some deep snow. I was in low for a bit until it stopped moving and all I could hear was a grinding (gears) sound. Anyone else experience this?

It was not in gear properly or the shifter is out of adjustment. Possible tranny failure but that thing is a beast so I would think shifter adjustment.

seemed to be in gear, I was in motion for a while, then it let loose and I heard the grinding, I immediately shut it off.
how would I go about adjusting it?
Thanks in advance

You might try looking up "NYROC'S ATV info website" he used to be a Kawasaki expert. I used his information many times when I had my Praire300. He gives good explanations and pictures. I remember there are two holes that must be lined up in the linkage by adjusting the threaded rod.
