Default BF 750 Top speed?

I raced a grizz today on my brute. The grizz was completly stock. I have 27" 589s to slow me down. We did 3 races bout 100 yards. We did it from a dead stop and then rooling at 5mph. I took him by about 2 quad lenghts at a stand still. And about the exact same rooling. The brute just takes off faster. Right out of the hole im smoking him. Hes had his toped out at 65mph i havent had a chance to top out the brute it feels like im driving down railroad tracks on pavement. The wabble is horriable. I really need to get that fixed. By the way he cant out mud me either.

I changed the needle and played with shims 2 then back to none ,now 1 shim and seems miss is gone, Same jetting with dyna until got cold. I am jetted 162 and 160. I know that doesn't sound right but plugs look good and runs good. Will have to get up considerably with the new penland cam. Mine doesn't start well in the cold. Runs around 7400 rpm at 67, then builds slowly up to 7900 at 73 mph.

2005,
I balanced the wheels with the tires on with about 5.5psi. I used a Snap-On rotating tire balancer. The machine actually wanted some of the weights on the outside, but we just compensated so all were on the inside of the wheel.
In response to the top speed, when I'm at or near top end the bike feels like I'm in low range with all the torque that is still there. I have never felt a machine with so much power. If the BF was geared a bit taller it would probably hit over 80 easily and then take to the air like a big green frisbee. That's probably why Kawi geared this machine the way they did.

Thanks, I was thinking NFKL needles with one or two shims would be about right with a Dyna, I only have the Dyna and haven't re-jetted yet but will soon I hope, I do have the mixture screws at 3 turns out and it really helped with start-up and idle, I am going to leave the screws where they are put one DJ shim under both NFKL needle's and run a 155 main (front) and 160 main (rear) and see how it does, since these things are lean to start with I hope this new jetting get's it right..........

thanks Sep1, I'll call some more tire places. I take it that's not a home unit?

Stakk, I have the same lean condition and am running a Dynatek CDI box, I live about the same elevation so let me know how those numbers work out for you. I have the same needle in the front that was in the back, but I still have a stumbling problem and it is very cold natured.

No miss anymore with mine, ONe shim under needles after needle update. I am jetted 160 and 162. Hard to start when cold out. Today at 5* cranked on it 5 long trys. Then started, took choke off right away and idled great. Thanks to rich jetting. Also had choke modified which helped.
