I have a stock muffler with some holes drilled in it.

mpap, I was thinking about getting a stock muffler too, but not sure if my reasons were the same as yours. The reason I wanted one was because I did the muffler mod to mine and it is now not technically legal as a spark arrestor. The whole muffler itself is considered a spark arrestor and any mod might get you in trouble with a ranger that has a bone to pick. I had considered getting a stock one for those rides in areas where they check, but then found out about a sparky spark arrestor that I can take on and off depending on where I'm riding.

 

RebelDS, you can make a removable baffle to fit into the outlet of the exhaust that brings the sound pretty much back to stock.Need a welder and a few parts,cheep.I can't afford a real exhaust so the mod works for me,but the days i'm snowplowing its a real treat to muffle it down.Should get you past any park ranger. M/M.
