Turtletrax: You don't want to give up on your bike, do you? I didn't think so. Have you looked at nyroc's site for reset procedure? As mentioned above, the reset procedure is easy, especially when you're a long way out. The tools to do it are small and don't weigh much.
You won't have to actually shim it, etc. til you get home and have time (if it even needs it). Nyroc shows how to do that too, just buy a few shims; you can do it. BTW, a rider on another forum had 3400 miles on his belt before the light came on. I think you might have gotten one that wasn't already adjusted right from the get go.

Its a simple 2min. fix not worth complaining about IMO. See it here it EASY
