help! 650 problem !
My 650 praire seems to be flooding, took off evrything to get to the top of the carbs. When the fuel petcock is off and the carbs full of fuel it runs until out of gas . But when the petcock is on fuel POURS out of the drain tube and the top of the carbs look like they are drowning and almost impossible to keep running. I 'm guessing the floats\float stuck? How do I fix that? I do not like the idea of diving into the carbs, but this rig keeps the farm going! any ideas

Got to take the bottom of the carb bowls off to reach the floats. While you got the top cover and bowls off. you may as well replace all your screws with metric allenheads, .04 X 14mm.
I'd take a look at the choke plunger springs first though. Choke plunger springsare notorious for flooding your carbs and hydrolocking our quads. Springs can be replaced with the KLR 650 springs or just get a new choke cable that already has the better springs & plungers. Visit Nyrocs tech tips for instructions http://atv.dnsalias.com. Also, parts can sometimes be purchased cheaper on ronayers.com

Mine just did the same thing last week. I had to pull out the carbs completely out of the bike to have access to the bottom cover where the floats are. Check the float valve and its seat, there probably is something keeping one of them open. In order to do this properly you need to pull the carbs out. Took me 3hrs to complete the job. Mine started this while hot in the middle of a ride 10 miles out. Got towed back.
