Hey folks,

A question for those of you that have Prairies with high milage. How dependable has the belt drive system been? Have any of you had to replace the belt due to it's starting to slip to much? I know there was a recall, but I understand they've now (supposedly) corrected the problem by going to a different belt. I just bought a brand new 2001 Prairie 300 4x4, and I wondering what to expect in the yrs. to come.

2000 Honda Rancher- 4x4ES, 26'x9.50'x12' Super Swampers, ITP Crome Rims, Warn A2000 Winch, Stick-Stoppers

2001 Prairie 300 4x4- 2000lb. Super-winch

I just got mine replaced on my 99 400 4x4 due to the recall. I got 2200 miles on the original belt and it was starting to show signs of slipping. It would change "noises" (not engine rpm's) when cruising @ 30-40mph.
My dads 300 4x4 on the other hand- he was told they replaced his belt twice due to slipping, come to find out when the recall service was performed he still had his original belt. gotta love a good lying service dept.

Well, sounds like the belt life is "limited" to say the least. The guy at the dealership tried to tell me, "we just don't have any problems with those." Typical b.s.! Oh well, at least I now no what to expect. I've got my Honda Rancher as well, so the Prairie will be sharing duties with it. When the belt does go out on the Prairie, I know I can still count on the Honda.

What the hell are you reading. One person said his friend had his belt replaced. The other two are being replaced under a recall. And I have never had any problems exept when my belt got wet. The guy with the 99 has 2,200 miles on it, that's a lot of off road mile.
And the other guy said he was TOLD his belt was replaced twice but had the original belt on it.
And the new belt is a better design.
Again did you read something I did't see.

WAYNEB,

Hey, my bad! It's been a loooooong day. I went back and checked, I could have sworn it was 220 miles. That what happens to your eyes when your flat worn out! Your right though, seems like the belt thing may be ok after all. Thanks for clearing things up. Off to bed!!!!
