Default 06 BF750 mileage.......

Hello all,

Picked up the Brute yesterday, awesome machine. The dealer installed the ing. advancer before I picked it up so I don't know what it was like before the advancer but I sure like it with the advancer. My question is, what kind of fuel mileage are BF750 owners getting with stock tires on average figuring in trail riding, hot *******, ect..... Thanks.

I get 15~17 mpg on a daylong easy trail riding, mostly in 2WD and no more than 3/4 throttle. I think I could get 20+ mpg on pavement. The worst I got was like 5 mpg in 4WD. It heavily depends how/where you ride and the condition of your bike.

I was riding last Saturday on mostly hard packed ice trail with no hills and I took it pretty easy because the trail was fairly slippery. I got 18 miles per gallon . This is better than previous tanks as it is now getting broke in. I have just over 200 miles.

ITP ATR Holeshot tires

PS Removing the white sleeve in fuel tank before refueling is a must especially when topping off tank to the max to check gas milage.

OK, probably a silly question but do you just pull the sleeve out or what?

The first few times I had to pry mine out with a knife. I cut a "V" notch in it so I now can easily get my thumbnail under it to pull it out.

Good Luck.

My white Sleeve just pops right out with putting a little pressure on the inside of the tube with two fingers on each of your hands. It only goes back in one way, it pops back into a groove.
By removing this white sleeve during fill-ups you will get all of the 5.4 gallons in the tank. I can now go 29 miles before I lose one bar on the gas guage before and w/o removing the White Sleeve I was only getting 17 miles.
More miles you put on the better your MPG will be. After the 500 mile mark my BF750 avg 15 in mixed riding. After I installed the $88 Moose Module I jump up to a avg of 16 with a high of 17.4 in 2wdHigh 100% and hauling down the trails. I am using the 25" Badland Radials.

The best I have ever seen from my stock 05 is 60 miles to a tank which translates to around 11mpg. I guess I finally hounded my dealer enough for them to admit that even a V Twin 750 should get better than this. In fact according to Kawasaki the BF should average 16 MPG.

I sent my BF to the dealer a couple weeks back. He gave it back to me yesterday and told me I will get better mileage. The info he gave me was this; There is a retainer that sits between the needle jet and the spring on these carbs. This retainer supposedly installs in only one position correctly and if installed incorrectly it wont hold the needle jet in the proper position. I guess my retainer was incorrect and was allowing the needle jet to float/wander up to 1/4" causing a false heavy load on the carb. The dealer fixed this and also verified that both needle jets were the right part number(NKLL or something, I wrote them down but misplaced the paper) and installed new main jets in case the other ones were drilled incorrectly.

I haven't had enough seat time yet to verify an increase in fuel mileage but I will post the results if wanted. As soon as I realize an increase I have the Moose Module waiting to get installed.
