Kustom Kraft BBKs for Prairie 650/ 700
Ok, I saw KODs recent post about BBKs, including one from Kustom Kraft (http://www.kustom-kraft.com) for approx. $719 (not including cams or head work). I made a call to Marvin at Kustom Kraft this afternoon and found out the following info.
The P650 BBK makes 750ccs (not 785 as stated on their website) and their P700 BBK makes 785ccs. (Marvin said he was glad I pointed out the website error on the BBK size and I'm sure he will correct that soon) Both kits cost $719 plus shipping (approx. $20 to my area).
Basically, you have to ship your cylinders to them and they remove your old sleeves and bore out the cylinders to fit larger sized BBK sleeves (LA Sleeves brand). They also bore the BBK sleeves to fit the oversized pistons (JE Pistons with 11:1 ratio) that come with the BBK. Both BBKs use the same size piston (87mm). They ship everything back to you (reworked cylinders, pistons, gaskets, etc.) and then you bolt it on. He said he recently did 1 BBK on a P700 and their customer called later to say everything went together fine with no problems.
This BBK does not include cams nor does it include head work. He said you could probably use Hotcams or even the stock cams if you wanted (I'm guessing you could also use Web Cams). Marvin seemed very friendly on the phone and he reassured me that they have been in business for 37 years (they recently moved into a brand new shop in Colorado from Indiana or someplace like that) and they also offer a 5 year warranty on the sleeves.
Just thought I'd post this info for anyone out there who may be looking for a BBK for their Prairie or BF.
Happy trails...
