Default Prairie 360 vs Eiger 400

Here is my take on the Eiger vs the Prairie 360. My brother has a prairie 360 4x4, so I know exactly what bike will do.

LOW END POWER: Edge Prairie 360
MID RANGE POWER: Edge Eiger
TOP END POWER: Eiger by a long shot

HANDLING: Both about the same
4x4 SYSTEM: Prairie b/c it has the progressive diff locker and the Eiger is limited slip only

I have heard that the Eiger motor is a winner in the 350-400 class, but I know how the 360 prairie performs, which is very good for the price and what you get.

The bottom line to me is they are about equal.

Eiger hands down...

I'm a big fan of Kawi's but the Eiger is the cream of the crop in the 400cc class...IMO

I bought one for my wife in 04 and she didn't beat on it much but my friends did and it's like the energizer bunny...

I traded it in for a 06 bf 650 this past fall, but not because it wasn't a great machine...

How 'bout a Prairie 400- yeah you'll hafta cop for a used one off ebay, but ya get watercooling, and it's a good mount that'll hold it's own, in the mud against 650 and 700cc mounts........

I'm a Kawie guy but my dad has an eiger. His has been absolutely bullet proof and has around 4500 miles on it, I think, I know it's alot for absolutely NO troubles. The only thing he's had to replace is the tires LOL. For a 400 the eiger runs strong and likes to rev. The only thing the eiger lacks imo is a locking front diff. other than that Suzuki did an excellent job on this model.

Hey there Alwaysride, How has that 260 been treating you? Do you know what changes they have made to it since 04? I am considering one used or new if budget allows for my girlfriend who is a newbee to quads. Would like 4x4 and engine brake ect. Or and other suggestions? Thanks Calvin

Hey, i got ya on another post but ill reply here to. I love my atv. ITs been pretty dang problemles for the 3 year and 3000 miles on it. By the way, that is some hard riding, not hard riding for a old person, haha, im 19 and ride extremely agressive. But anywho, when i first got it, the engine break worked great. Many times to great. For instance going down just a little hill it would kick in and throw me a bit. One of my problems ive had with the atv in this amount of time was my engine break actuator going bad(the other is a easy fix, oil seals). At first i was bad but then i realized why so many people just disconect their actuator in the first place. YOu still get engine braking but you just have to make sure that you give it a slight bit of throtle witch keeps the belt engage and wammo, downhill braking. Othere then that, youll love the atv. Dont not buy it because the actuator prob though. Nothing to worry about if it does stop, you can buy a new one or just disconnect and not worry about it. As im sure you know also, use LOW gear anytime you are going slow and you wont have any prob with the belt going loose quick or slipping.

P.S, check out my vids i have in my sig. THose vids are before most of my mods though.
