Am I Crazy?
#1
I'm looking a a used 2004 Suzuki Twin Peaks 700 (Kawasaki Prarie 700) with 4638 KM (2,900 MILES).
Is almost 3,000 miles too much??? It look in good shape.
Do you guys have more miles on yours? And what will need replacing at those miles?
Am I crazy and just asking for trouble buying something with this many miles?

3000 miles is like .. 5000km .. roundabouts anyway .. that's NOTHING on a good 4 stroke engine. You MIGHT have to thinking about rebuilding that in about 20k if you put it through the ringer. And by that time .. toss it and buy something else because it'll cost more than the quad's worth at the time to do the rebuild on a twin ..
My 2001 Warrior had over 4500km when I sold it, and aside from replacing the starting motor once it ran like brand-new, possibly better
Just check to make sure the driveline is good .. I haven't heard much about the Kawi CVT's but I do belive the belts are damn expensive .. If it runs smooth, and does all of it's functions good I'd say unless he's asking the price of a new renegade for it .. buy it up!!!
On the bikes of today .. those miles are nothing .. barely past it's breakin period!! Oh, and it would probably go for over $6k round here .. most likely nearer to $8k
Oh .. and yeah ... you're crazy .. all us canuks are a little bent in the brain!!!!

the only thing you should worry about is the swing arm bushings.
they need to be checked and cleaned and greesed at least every 6 monthes.
get on the quad and have someone push down on the rear rack as far as that can and if you here a creeking sound then the bushings are shot and if its too badly worn there might be swing arm damage.
and thats where it starts to cost money.
just to change the bushings is cheep but to replace the swing arm thats alot of money.
eny other problems would be minor compared to that.
good luck.
