I don't know about the 5HP gain but the MOOSE Module does add power to the very bottom, from 1mph to about 7mph, goose it & hang on..
The Aftermarket CDIs do add the HP.

a dyna or vdi will easily add 5hp at the crank. At the wheels, I don't know, but wouldn't doubt it. A cdi is by far the best performance mod you can do. The modules such as the moose and highlifter work OK but don't produce the same kind of performance as a cdi. For your 650 the dyna or vdi would be the way to go.

The timing on the utilities is way retarded compared to the V-Force. There's a lot to be picked up from advancing it.

Anybody know why it is that there are so many complaints about the Dyna causing BF750's to run like $hit? Why would they work great on other Kawi V-twins but not the 750 motor? At less than $200, I'd like to try one, but I just can't justify almost $400 for a VDI Copperhead right now.

BF series independant suspension models have different crank triggers than the Prairie and V Force series. Dyna uses the same cdi for both, same technology for 2 different systems won't work.

VDI has many more options that can grow with you as you modify your machine, 2 different cdi's for 2 different machines. Dyna you are limited hence the difference in price.

I run the Moose for now, basically because of cost reasons and the fact that I think the Brute already has enough top end. Even with the Moose I can't keep the front end down

Thanks for the explanation, alltoys. Makes sense now! I just wonder why Dyna would even try to sell their cdi to people with this type of motor if it doesn't work properly?! Are there any brands of cdi besides VDI that do work in the BF750?

Nope, VDI is the only one that will work with the BF series properly. I believe Dyna thought that the miss was minor and wasn't worth changing for a limited market. At least that is my thoughts.
