Default Just got a Bayou 220 year?? sat up for 4 yrs

I got it running in about an hour, but my question is the brakes are either shot or out of adjustment. Where can I adjust the brakes? Also the brake cable is broken for the rear brakes somewhere. All it took to get it started was a new spark plug, new fuel line and an air filter. I still need to change the oil fix the brakes. Overall it is a stout little machine for only being a 220. Any help is greatly appreciated.

My ma has a 220, tough little machines. The breakes have an adj screw near the drums. I suggest a shop manual for it, very handy for the rare time you 220 gives you trouble. Sorry I do not know exactly how to help.

Welcome to the forms and i see you live in graysville i live in hueytown ive been riding out in graysville for years now theres tons of trail between there and adamsville. And as for those ooh so not wonderfull drum brakes!!! id start by removeing the castle nut on the spinde slide the rim and hub and all off to inspect your brake shoes and the seal that goes around the drum witthout that seal you will!! loose your break's every time you go riding and go through mud which were we live mud is everywere ok and if your seal is good and brakes arent worn out get a wire brush and sand papper scrub up you break pads get them good and clean and clean out your drum good and before you put your wheel and drum back on get a old tooth brush clean up your seal well! ! ! and get you some watter proof grease rub it around the seal well to soften it up and help keep out mud/watter.I know this sounds like alot but even if your not really sure on what your doing it will take no more than 2-3 hours and by doing this you wont be fighting with your brakes after every ride. And maybe one day we can get up a ride shoot me a pm.~~JEREMY and good luck on those brakes...

Biggin and 2FAST4URASS thanks for the help!

2Fast I am borrowing this quad until I buy one. I have already owned 2 sold first and second was stolen. I do most of my riding in the Shady Grove/Maytown area. Powerlines and Village Creek runs through also. I do have to do a complete tear down and rebuild on the brakes, as of right now I only have back brakes and that makes an interesting ride. I have some friends that have been riding in Hayden and The Ridge in Springville, if I can get this quad back working 100% i plan to check out these places. Hopefully I will be buying a new quad after the first of the year.

2 more questions, first I need to change the oil but can't find the filter, can some one point me in the right direction on what I need to remove to get to it. Second the front brake cable is pretty much shot and need a new one, is there anywhere besides a dealer I can get this part.
Thanks,
