In case some of you are curious about MPG...
2002 P650 - 18 MPG
Covered about 100 miles on Pauite trail in Utah. Avg speed range was 15~25 mph, 70% in 2WD & 30% in 4WD, and some riding on streets (yes, legally) to go to restaurants and hotel. Rejetted for ~5000 ft elevation.
2004 P700 - 16 MPG
On steep/rocky Los Padres mountains in Ca, ~6000 ft elevation. 50/50 in 2/4WD. Avg speed was 10~20 mph. Factory original jetting.
2005 BF750 - 12 MPG
Moderate to few steep hills in Gorman, CA, ~3000 ft elevation. Mostly in 2WD, some rocky, sand, dried creek/wash, and mostly flat dirt trails. Avg speed was 30~40 mph. Front carb needle jet was changed to one size up.
All stock quads with no mods or aftermarket parts, except the winch on 700 and 750. Using heavier rim/tires would definitely hurt the mpg, and the heavier thumb, too. My numbers may sound higher than some of you. That's because I ride like an old man...

Roofer, Hayashi, i agree those #'s sound about right. those are the #'s i get with my brute(though i can get just over 20 more miles while flashing) and thats what my brother gets on his p650. Roofer i also agree with the ps500HO, my friend use to go pretty far between fill ups.

60% 2wdH/10% 4wdL/30% 4wdH my '05BF750 avg 16.5mpg with elevation from 6500-10,000ft.
Worse was 10.5mpg all 4wdL & at the 12,000ft range in Colorado on one very Sunny Summer Day.
My '07BF750 with just a low 30 miles on it is getting 15, it should get better after more miles are put on.
A P650 in our group gets 18.5mpg.
Pulling the White Tube out during fill-ups does allow the gas tank to fill all the way up & you know that you do have all 5.4 gallons of gas in the tank.
