I noticed a whining noise while pulling away for quite some time now and just recently heard a knock while doing about 40km/h and easing off the gas to lower speeds. The noise was coming from the lower right hand side of the bike and I assume that's where the belt is. Just yesterday I was riding along and the noise was getting worse and worse and just before I got home something snapped and the guad wouldnt go into gear. I have an idea that it might be the belt? but I'm not quite sure, if anyone has any ideas what it is, it would be appreciated.

Probably the belt. I do have a 2000 400 torn apart in my shop right now for a guy. The bolts fell out of two of the three shoes in the secondary clutch, jammed it up good.
