2006 KFX 700
#1
I am buying a new 2006 KFX 700 today, I was wondering if there are any differences between the 2006 and the 2007. I originally wanted the 2007 but my dealer was sold out, and only has a 2006 in stock. He told me that there are no differences but I wanted to ask here anyways.
Alos, I have done some research and found that the tie rods and ends seem to be weak on this machine, can anyone suggest replacements that are stronger?
Thank you for your time.
Sincerely,
Jeff

I had to replace my stock ones almost instantly when I got mine in 2003. I had JD Performance tie rods with stock ends until this spring. I broke a tie rod end and decided to replace them with the American Star X-Series tie rods with ends. If you're interested I have the JD Performance ones in the garage, with one new Kawi end.

There is no differences... I have been running the stock tie rods for 3 years now and they are fine. Some peeps have bad luck with them, and some are lucky. I have put over 3000 miles on the set ive got and they are like new.

Both 2006/2007 already have the upgraded bigger steering tie-rods, something like 12 mm from 11 mm dia. Mine is 04 and they (11 mm) are still holding up good for my fast trail riding. Things don't just bend by themselves. But if you will ride in a way that you don't want your dealer to see it, then you should get stronger aftermarket ones.

Hayashi -san,
Thank you for your post.
I don't plan on driving it like a mad-man, so I think the stock tie-rods and ends should hold up. I was just worried because I have been to a few different forums and they all said that the tie rods and ends wre weak, and that they should be replaced as soon as you get the quad.
Thanks everyone else for your responses too.
Sincerely,
Jeff

Well, I did it. I picked up a 2007 KFX700 in green. This quad rides a lot different than my Bomb 800, but I like it.
I didn't ride it that mush today, just around the block. After riding it, it smelled like something was burning, is this just the belt setting in or should I be worried? I don't remember my Bomb smelling like this.
I plan on taking it out on the trails Saturday, I hope that the smell goes away.
Thanks all for our time.
Sincerely,
Jeff

That burning smell is probably just the paint on the exhaust burning. I think just about every new machine will smell kind of funny the first few times you ride them. Congrats on your purchase and enjoy!!!

I think you were all correct concerning the burning smell. I took it out yesterday and the smell was soon gone. I am really happy with this bike, it seemed as if it ran great.
Thank you all for your time.
