prairie 360 4x4 water-proofing
#1
just bought this atv 2007 model. i am going a ride this week and wanted to know what i need to do to keep water out. i already see that i need to put silicone around the recoil seat. i sprayed tire-cleaner on the black plastic so the mud wouldnt stick as bad.
i got this atv in the camo-color and it looks good. i would also like to know of any known problems with them. i was told they are just like the 06, just has a powered-coating on the racks.
as of know this atv is just what i wanted, fits in the back of my truck and has plenty of power in low. high on this atv isnt great but good enough, but then again i bought this atv for the trails.

P360 is not known to have water-intrusion related problems unless you go deeper than the seat level (which quad wouldn't anyway if that deep). Just don't go deeper than air intake for carb and CVT. Also look where the CVT exh outlet is. Going into water any deeper than footboard is not what I recommend on any ATV. Water/mud will have a negative longer term effect on many parts like bearings, pivot bearings, electrical connectors, etc., on your 360 or any quad. I think submerging ATV in deep water is a terrible thing to do - the best way to shorten the life of a quad. If you have to cross deep water to get to your destination, then you may do it. But if you don't have to, don't do it. There is no need to give a hard life to your new quad.
Learn how to properly shut off the BELT LIGHT if that starts flashing because you will go into limp home mode, no more than 5 mph on your 360.

thanks for the replies so far.
i am not planning on riding thru a pond are anything, but if it happens i wanta be prepared.
i was reading the book and it talks about after you sink it and get out put the atv in neutral and rev the engine and it will drain the water in the belt department.
just wanted to know how to be as safe as possible and have fun too

It is nice to know who the resident experts are. I just got an 06 prairie 360 in November and have been trying to get an idea of what i need to do to maintain it. I bought it used so I don't have the dealership relationship to back up too and just trying to find local friends and knowledgable people to help.

My Fiance bought a white 360 4x4 a while back and I think it's a great machine and ride it alot when the kids ride my Brute. I was amazed how it climbed and went through the deep slurry mud of Azusa Canyon, Ca. The deep water crossongs were no problem either but like they all say keep up on maint and check your quad over often for long reliable use.
I love the Kawasaki line and so does my family to the tune of 4 of them so far.
Have fun and stay safe.

the 360 is a great atv. Dang reliable too. Just learn how to do belt maintenece and such and use low gear as much as possible so you dont slip a belt and help keep it in spec longer. I use low when going slow, pulling, climbing, mudding, etc. good luck
P.S, go to nyrocatv.com under tech tips inthe prairie section for all the belt info and such.
