Default prairie 360 vs. rancher 420

Im looking at an 07 of either. I was set on a prairie and then saw that the rancher was new and improved so to speak. Its no longer a 350 and efi. Now has in and out 4x4. Prices are close what would you do. Thanks Jordan

Both are nice ATVs. I have the 360 and for what it is, its a great atv. The 360 will be much better off-road for rough technical riding. The rancher is smaller and faster and will be better for fast type riding. The rancer will be better with elevations also. The 360 is bigger and more comphy with a high, low ranger shifter and diff lock for hard stuff. Sit or ride both to see what you like ,I really like the rancher but im 6' 1" and the rancher would be to small for me to ride i think. I like the size of the 360 better. Both are great atvs but you need to choose one that fits you better .Tell us how you ride and what type of places you ride.

Its for the girl friend. I have a kfx for speed. Im looking for long term and she is going to follow me and pull me out. Ha

The 360 is auto and the rancher is semi auto (i think) My dealer will only let me sit on them . So im not sure what to do. I can look for a nice used 360, is there anyhting to watch out for? Better years. The only reason i ask about new is my dealer has a used 05 360 for 4595 and a new 07 360 on sale with wich for 4795 before tax doc and freight. I know there is room on the used on but how much. Thanks Jordan

thats a really high price for a used 360. If you go used, i would look for any year really that has low hours and miles. As long as the recall was done on the 03-05 models, there is no others things to look out for. If you go with the 360, youll just have to be contious of the belt by using LOW gear when needed, and checking and adjusting when need be.

For 200 more or so, go with the new one. It will pull very very well. Its a torque machine that much is certain.

I never rode the Honda, but in 05' the dealer I used was Honda/Kawi and he talked me out of the Honda and into the Kawi'

Is there anything to look for? My girl friend said she doesnt mind semi auto and wants camo. She also said that she like the feel of the rancher.

I have noticed that the prairie has more seat for riding two and has the dif lock. What will i lose with out that... I know just three wheels will spin in 4x4. Jordan

if your going rock climbing or muddin' that lil' yellow lever saved me many a times, but...if she likes one better, you do yourself a favor and go that route. as its all in the ride...all these machines pretty much do anything, so you dont lose!

Both are good machines as has been stated. Since it is for her let her pick the one she wants. If you force one on her she will never be really happy with it and will probably not ride with you as much. Also, if she decides she isn't into the quad thing, like my wife, then it's not your fault for getting her the wrong quad. JMO and I could be wrong. But you know I'm not.
