Default Can you balance ATV tires?

I am getting one pile of road shutter from my front end at 60kph and over. Is there a chance that the tires are off balance? Don't tell me that I need $500 front shocks. Can you balance ATV tires?

i'm pretty sure that atv tires don't have to bee balanced when installed. but you could always take it to a tire shop and if they have an adapter big enough for your wheels they could use stick on weights. the only problem with stick on weights is that they might hit your caliper or the mud scrapper. i'd make sure the wheels weren't bent. if you do get them balanced i'd have them balance the wheel by itself and see if that is your problem.

yes you can balance atv tires with stickon weights. i have done every quad i have owned and it worked really well. no more bounce or wobble. i used a bubble balancer from jc whitney for about 50$. they also have two styles of weights standard size and thin racing style. i had no problem with weights hitting anything. just make sure you take off your wheels the day before balancing to prevent flat spots on tires or they wont balance correctly.

Well, I have phoned all over and every shop says "No". We must be behind the times here. I know that if my front tires were balanced, I would handle better.

I think it might be the type of tires, 589's aren't that good of a high speed tire. You are probably getting "lug bounce"

Well said, but that does not me feel better at 80 km or better. I don't need the speed most of the time, but I did not get a BF for show only. I like the get up and go.

I can truely attest to that! I love the speed of mine. I was just throwing out a different idea. I have Big Horn's on mine, pretty smooth. I just got my Elka's in 2 days ago, should be even smoother now. Can't wait to get them on and try 'em!

Are the tires new? When I first got my 26" mudlites, I had really bad shaking also. Adjusted the toe to just over 0mm and it has handled great since. Balancing won't fix the toe being out of adjustment. Adjusting it too far down will fix the straight line wobble, but will be hard to handle in the woods, so be careful.
