I finally have a problem with my Kawi :-) another dead battery. I can get between 2 to 3 years out of one and only got 6 months out of the original. I decided at that rate of replacement to not purchase another expensive dealer battery, but got a "super start powersport" from Oreilly auto. It is identical in size, amps and everything, just half the price. Its out bubbling away right now from the acid add, its a DIY setup.
Anybody have any experience with el cheapo parts store batteries in their machine? Maybe my winch is shortening their life?

 

I buy the Wall-mart "Energizer" brand batteries for my Snowmobile,boat and ATVs they only last for a couple of seasons but at $50 thats not to bad.

 

I got one of those Oreilly batteries in my 650 Prairie. It's the Absorbed Glass Mat (AGM) and it's the bomb. It was about 60 bucks. And is about 2 years old now. It handles the 3000 pound winch, cranks over quickly and I've never had to charge it, even after long periods of inactivity. And it doesn't boil dry when charging like that POS lead acid battery in my PoPo sportsman.

 

re: acid add. i do not think i would be running a wet cell batt in a quad.
