Tecate 4
#2
To my knowledge, the clutch basket is unique to the Tecate lineup. It is supposed to be the same for 3 & 4-wheelers, but the KX clutch basket is different. I just tried to verify all this on www.buykawasaki.com , but I can't get into the parts catalogs right at the moment. If you haven't already heard of this website, check it out! I did get on recently, and in the parts catalog it has exploded parts diagrams for Tecate's. Makes it really easy if you've taken yours apart and can't quite remember how it went back together! What's the problem with your clutch basket? Just plain worn out? Or did the needle bearing fail and wipe out the bore? I had that problem on my '87, and I solved it by just eliminating the needle bearing and installing a bronze bushing. That is what most manufacurers (Kawi being the exception) do for a clutch hub bearing anyway, so it's a perfectly acceptable repair.

brianc...Thanks for the info. My clutch basket is ok. I was just curious, wanted to see if Hinson made a basket for it(in case I ever need one). Did you have a machine shop make the brass bushing for you? I've been to the Kawi sight, it is helpful.
