Yeah, that's true, the resale value wont be what you've got in it. Its pure educational expense, lol. THat's the way I feel with my 230 quadsport. Dumping all this time and loot into it and it will never be what I really want,,, a 450. If I was paid $6/hr for every hr I've tinkered on that thing I could buy a new 450 with cash! ... and at this rate, before its all said n done, I could probably buy the dealership! Jetting isn't that bad when the carb is less complicated AND when you have access to all the jets n needles you need. The problem I have is Sudco lists a needle in the catalog, but dont sell it and can't even order it. And jets you have to buy 4 at a time,,, all the same size. So, the biggest problem to jetting is getting your hands on the parts. THe actually act of jetting is really pretty straightforward on a simple old-fashioned roundslide. I wont touch a cv carb except to throw it in the trash.

My bud got a 400 kodiak with a cv carb n I been telling him to get a roundslide for it for a while now. We've tried everything to get that quad to run right, but it just don't get enough gas. I told him I'm not going to make it my 2nd job to get it running when I could have a regular carb tuned in an hour. He asked his friend at the dealer about the carb and he said he would tune it up for him for $60. That's $60 to a fairly good friend (about 10-20% off). Or he could buy a new roundslide for $100 that any backwoods hillbilly can tune up for a 6-pack. I think he is finally going to take my advice.
