Default FRONT END KLUNCKING NOISE AT LOW SPEEDS?

I have an 07 Kawasaki Brute Force 650 SRA. It is GREAT. However at low speeds and over rough terrain I hear a kluncking noise in the front end somewhere. I was wondering if anybody else out there with a Brute Force hears the same thing, or if i need to take it in to get it checked out. Thanks for your time.

i know the 05's had ball joints problems. i had new ones put on mine just before i bought it with 1000mi on it and they put newones on again at about 1600mi right before i traded the POS in.

to check the ball joints:

-rais up the front end with a floor jack
-put jackstands under the lower controll arms and lower the quad down on to them
might have to use cinder blocks or something smaller, you only want the tires to be a couple inches off the ground
-put a pipe or prybar under the tire and lift up on the prybar, you might have to have someone push down on the front rack if the whole quad lifts up
-if you can see the steering knuckle move without the controlarms moving, the balljoints are bad

this is how i check balljoints on 4x4 trucks but it should work on quads too

I don't know how bad you're talking, but mine does the same thing. I've been told it's normal driveline lash noise due to the straight cut gears. Mine is not objectionable and I hear it more if i'm in low range.

BruteForce6504x4,
Since you have the same bike. Does your lights flicker a little while it's idleing and dim when the fan kicks on while you're out riding ?? Also my exhaust header glows when I start it with the choke on and let it run for a while and it's cold out. Just wondering if this is normal.

Hey, I have not noticed my lights flickering but, I sure it does it because your fan runs off the battery and its probably taking some of the amps. Also my exhaust header does not glow when its on choke. It does not get very cold in Texas. Thanks, and i also heard about it might be the drive line like you said, but now its in the shop for ball joint or bearing in the front.
