Default BF750 10hrs

Greetings, Hope you folks can help.
Got this new BF 750 and now the 10hrs are up and going to dealer for first service.
Dealer said if I brought my own oil he'd no problem using it.
I want Mobil 1 MX4T so went to town and found it at auto supply store.
The MX4T containers had two slightly different labels. One said "racing" the other didn't. They were the same viscosity, near as I could tell everything was exactly the same. I didn't buy either cuz didn't want to make a mistake.

What if any is the difference??
Many Thanks,
scupper

As long as the viscosity is correct, 10W-40, either would be fine for your quad. I've been using regular Mobil 1 for 4 years on mine and so far so good.

IF IT'S SYNTHETIC, I WOULD WAIT UNTIL YOU HAVE SOME MORE TIME ON THE MACHINE TO DO THE SWITCH. SYNTHETICS HAVE SMALLER MOLECULES, AND IF THE ENGINE IS NOT FULLY BROKEN IN, YOU COULD GET OIL TO PUSH BY THE RINGS. JUST A HEADS UP.

Hayashi/RUDDY208, Thanks for info.
I did find the difference and it was just in the Mobil Label. Seems they'd changed just the name from MX4T to Mobil Racing 4T but the formula has remained unchanged. So I was looking at an older label along with a newer one.

Interesting about Synthetics having smaller molecules, I didn't know that. I think I'll go ahead and use the "4T' anyway and if I have to add a little now and then that's OK. I kind of expect the rings have seated and all will be fine, we'll see.

Thanks Agn for info I really appreciate it,

Some highly reputable cars (M/B, Corvettes, etc) come already filled with synth oil from the factory these days.

BUT WHAT YOU DON'T KNOW IS THAT CORVETTE ENGINES ARE PRE-BROKEN IN AT THE FACTORY WITH MINERAL OIL. AND THEN SWITCHED TO SYNTHETIC. IF YOU BREAK IN AN ENGINE ON SYNTHETIC OIL, THE RINGS WILL NOT SEAT AND OIL WILL SQUIRT BY LIKE A FOUNTAIN. I READ THIS IN THE CAR AND DRIVER MAGAZINE. IM ACTUALLY MORE OF A CAR BUFF THEN AN ATV GUY.

Did a little research and found Mobil's response to using Synthetics during engine
break-in.

Mobil's response was that engines break-in just fine on synthetics, and that any wear point in the engine significant enough to be an interference, and thus susceptible to rapid wear, would be a wear point no matter what lubricant is used.

I'd guess from what I've recently seen during research that engine break-in is a very controversial subject and we could find data to support whatever view we held.

I'm kinda on the fence, don't know what's best but guess I won't worry a great deal abt using Mobil 4T after 12hrs on the BF

THANKS FOR THAT BUD! I RESPECT MOBIL AS A COMPANY AND I'VE USE THEIR PRODUCTS FOR YEARS. AND YOU ARE RIGHT, USING SYNTHETICS AND MINERAL'S IS ABOUT AS HEATED OF A SUBJECT AS WHAT BRAND OF ATV IS BETTER THEN THE OTHERS. THE ARTICLE I READ MUST HAVE BEEN ABOUT 2 YEARS OLD BECAUSE MY SUBSCRIPTION RAN OUT ABOUT THEN, AND SYNTHETICS PROBABLY HAVE COME LEAPS AND BOUND SINCE THEN.

HAYASHI HOPE THERE WAS NO OFFENSE TAKEN. JUST REGERGATATING WHAT I'VE READ.

SCUPPER THANKS FOR THE INFO AND NOW I HAVE TO DO SOME MORE RESEARCH ON THE MATTER.

HAVE A GREAT DAY GUY'S. GET OUT AND ENJOY THE TRAILS WILE WE STILL CAN.

Amsoil 0w-40 is what I use in my 06 BF 650. I live in northern Wisconsin and I routinely started this machine in -10F and as low as -20F. Highly recommend the Amsoil stuff.
