Whats up,

My dealer said that 10hrs of break-in time is enough...So Im going to change the oil at 10hrs. Anyone have any suggestions as to what else I might need to do?

Also, If someone could shed some light on adjusting valves, that would help...I dont feel like taking it completly apart lol...I am mechanicaly inclined also.
Another thing, how do you guys ride when breaking in your quad?

Thanks

Jeff

What ive heard from friends is 20 hours break in then change the oil and your not supposed to ride full throttle for the 1st 20 hours.

Today I just heard that I should ride it hard, ride it like I always will....I pulled up next to a Honda 450R and talked to that guy for a while, he said he just rode his hard from the get go. He was talking about how the piston rings can warp and crap. I also talked to my neighbor and he said it should be fine if i ride it normal. I got 9hrs on it so far, and today I really got on it...Never would of thought it hit so hard! lol...Anyways what are your suggestions and opinions?

Jeff

from most of what ive heard most of the break in happens in the first 20 minutes and you need to change your oil after that to get all the metal particles out.

Thanks for the info...

After the 10hrs can I start riding for longer? Instead of stopping after each hour. The guy on the honda beat me..yes i know lol..He has had his since Feb and I got mine last friday lol. Anyways I lost because I ran outta gas. I think I will change the oil before I ride tomorrow. Thanks for all the help...

I also heard the break in procedure where you are supposed to break it in the way you are planning to ride it. What about water, when is it ok to take them through water? I have seen pictures on a website where they show 2 pistons and one was broke in the way the manual suggests it and the other was broke in with the "break it in as you plan to ride it" and you could clearly see the difference. Anyone know where that website or thread about this is?

I was concerned for a moment until reading the reasoning behind you loosing too the 450r. You can't change the oil too much on a new engine.
