Nedd some advice KQ or Prairie
#11
The King quad is out of the mix. The guy that has the prairie is also selling an 07 Brute 650(SRA). I've read recently that Kawi' 4wd system isn't as good as the other lockers (because of clutches etc.) Can anyone enlighten me??
To make matters worse I found a nice 06 EFI sportsman 500 that looks like a good deal. Too many choices....
Any who.... I'm familiar w/the polaris awd, but ned some educating on the Kawi system

Well im no mechanic, so I dont know the intricate workings of the system, I just know from personal use I have had zero problems with my locker on my 08 bf 650sra, I love how handy it is to have beable to control the lock for certain situations. but thats just my opinion and experiance.
The one down side is you must engage the 4wd and roll a few feet (about 3) before it engages. Then run the locker from the lever. I have gotten stuck in 2wd on it (first time) in some mud that didnt look bad, it still went into 4wd fine after the fact, and climbed out.
Some ppl dont like that fact, myself it makes no differance If the mud looks like I "might" need the 4x4 then its on before I hit it anyhow.

The Brute I'm looking at is SRA. The purpose is to buy a second machine. It will be used by the wife when we ride together with the kids, and for me to ride a little more aggressive with (the x2 is too big and the outlaw is up for sale)

Well I've never really compared my 750 (which is the same basic size as the 650) to a X2. But I do ride with a buddy that has a Can-am outlander 2-seater. Overall it is really only like 9 inches longer in the nose. I know that can make alot of gifference on the trail but if your looking for something smaller than your X2 then tyhe 650 to me isn't what your looking for.

I should have explained better... I was referring more to the weight (over 900 lbs w/fuel)
At 603 lbs the Brute will have a higher fun factor, plus I don't want to beat on the X2
