300 prairie float height

Default 300 prairie float height

Hey guys,

Im in the middle of cleaning my carb and ive just about got it spotless.

the specs call for the float height to be 17mm? how do i adjust to 17mm?

all replies greatly appreciated

Hold the carb upside down and it's 17mm from the gasket surface to the bottom (now it's on top) of the float. You don't want to let the weight of the float move the spring loaded pin in the needle while you take your measurement. You can hold the carb more flat and slowly rotate the carb towards upside down so that the float starts to rest on the spring loaded plunger, but not enough weight to push the plunger pin in. Kinda hard to explain...would be easy to show you. Basically you can take your measurement when you are holding the carb approx. 45 deg. from upside down. Hope that makes sense. Usually you don't need to adjust anything, but if you do, us a small screwdriver and bend the small tab/arm that contacts the needle valve. Make sure you don't put pressure on the needle while you are slightly bending the tab. Also, check both sides of the float...they should be the same 17mm measurement. If they aren't, slightly twist the float to make is the same on both sides.
