1997 bayou300 slips
#1
I have a 97 kawasaki bayou 300 2wd. The clutch has been slipping for a long time. Once it gets going it pulls like a bear. I fiddled with the adjustments. Still slips. Do I simply need clutch pads and pressure plates or is there a bigger problem. She shifts fine and goes into gear fine with no creep.

you said you fiddled with the adjustments did you actually adjust them according to the service manual?
If not go to this link it is the manual and read about adjusting your clutch. http://books.google.com/books?...=8&ct=result#PPA82,M1
I also recomend this manual. I have one and with out it i would be stuck! Well worth the money.

I didi it according to the shop manual. I'm pretty good at working on things. Everything I did had no effect. I paid 200 for the quad. It's beat pretty bad.I like it cause it has the dual mode differential. If I can fix the slipping problem for around 200 in material I'll do it myself.

replacing the secondary clutch is no problem.. see my post on the clutch.. but, it SOUNDS like a primary, perhaps ... though i don't "for real" know..
you'll need a set of clutches, i would replace the disks while in there, and then, since you have to take out the primary anyway, look and see if the primary clutch housing is ringed and or chunks missing from the "pads"
you'll need a gasket, as well.. but, really, read my post on lakota clutches
