Thanks- it also just occurred to me that I still have 8 months left on the transferable "GTPP" extended warranty. The original owner paid $700 for an extra 48 months of coverage on top of the one year factory warranty.

Completely slipped my mind- as I never have warranties on used quads I bought in the past.

wonder if kawasaki would've given me a hard time...

No problem man, glad I could help! I had an argument with a Kawasaki mechanic two weeks ago about this. I was looking at a used one that wasn;t running right and he said it was in the carbs. He said the rubber seal didn't make a difference on how it ran, just there to keep water out. Well now I know of 5 different Brutes (counting yours) that it make a big difference on!!!

It actually still breaks up just a tiny bit mid range- but not enough to really impact performance. It rips pretty good.
