Not sure what weight the owners manual recommends but Shell Rotella 15W40 is about $13.00 a Gallon at Wallyworld. It's JASO MA rated. I use it in all my motorcycles and ATV's.

No worries with Rotella oil as it is Jaso MA. Most issues were with Energy conserving automotive oils like 5W30.

Just curious, but why would a cvt atv require motorcycle rated oil when it has no wet clutch to get messed up by moly content in Starburst type auto oils?

Now, Rotella is a good choice anyway. They also have a T6 5w40 which is rated for MC's and I run it in my Concours.

I've used Automobile 5w30 Mobil 1 in my atv in the winter with no ill effects.

Yes.......good point but you could argue that energy conserving oils and car oils in general contain less ZDDP. That's a whole seperate debate. If you use Rotella your pretty much covered for cheap money. Most likely you could use anything if you change it often enough.
