Belt squeal

Belt squeal
I have a 2002 Kawasaki 650 Prairie.When you first take off,the drive belt will squeal.After you get going it's fine.Looking at drive pulley,it has a groove worn into it.Can I sand or cut that groove out?Don't really want to spend all that money on a new pulley.
