Question Belt Squeal

Have a 2002 Kawasaki Prairie 650.Have 27" Highlifter Outlaw tires.
Have a belt squeal when taking off hard or trying to pull something.Have new belt & EPI Maroon front & Aqua rear springs.
Front pulley has a groove in it.Is there a way to fix this squeal without replacing front pulleys?

Pulley sheafs faces should completely smooth.

Is your belt deflection (tightness) within spec?

Does the belt squeal only while idling?

Is it an OEM belt or aftermarket?

My primary clutch face was wavy and I replaced the primary with a Comet. It wasn't having any issues, I just knew it wasn't right. When I installed an aftermarket belt I had to shim the secondary to obtain proper deflection. Kaw Prairie 400.

You could try cleaning the clutch faces with scotch brite pad and soapy water, and on the belt I've used wet/dry 400 or 600 grit sandpaper and lightly sand both edges of belt to take the shine off. That's what I've done on my snowmobile numerous times.

Question

Belt deflection a little on the tight side.Slight squeal @ idle in gear.
New OE belt.
Haven't tried soapy water, just light sandpaper.
Sanded sides of belt also.
STILL CAN'T GET RID OF SQUEAL!VERY frustrating!

Ok, belt squeals a little at idle. Get the deflection set right and the squeal at idle should be gone.

As far as the squeal when running, I know running the big tires puts a lot more stress on the belt and I can't speak to the springs whether they are the right rate. Maybe the springs need to be stiffer (maybe they were meant to be used for the stock tires?).

Cool

The EPI Maroon front spring is rated for 27" tires, but maybe I can try a stiffer one.Thanks.
