Default 2007 Kawasake Bayou 250 voltage regulator

My atv was cutting out while giving it throttle. I unplugged my voltage regulator and now it runs like a top. I was getting wrong readings at battery with ohm meter which is what prompted me to check regulator. Carb, stator, spark plug, coils are all good. Is this normal? I haven't found anything that would have voltage regulator causing this issue but it has resolved my issues.....Anyone else out there had the same problem?

Yes, not with a 250 but had a KLF300 which ran rough and blew bulbs due to overcharging, and Honda 450s nearly always cut out dead if the regulator goes wrong. Also had a Honda 300 that blew two CDIs due to a faulty regulator. In theory, AC ignition systems should be totally separate from the charging circuit, but most modern ignition systems seem to be a combination of AC and DC.
