long warm up time
#1
Good morning and merry xmas to all. I'm having a small issue with my 2002 kvf 650. when i start it i need to leave it on choke for a good 10 minutes for the engine to warm up. was wondering if their's anything i can do to fix that, I live near Ottawa in Canada and i understand we get freaking cold weather here. when i spoke to the mecanic about it he suggested i re jet the carbs. Any comment on that? Thanks

I owned a Praire 300 for 16 yrs, great machine but it was also cold blooded, needed a long time to get off choke. I did a carb rebuild with a "Uni" kit for slight improvement in performance. Kit worked great and did help the long on choke warmup, it still took a while but helped. I remember reading that most Kawi's are cold blooded, so just get used to it or mabey change thermostate to help warm up quicker. My current Kymco utv is fuel injected so no choke, but in extreme cold it does not get warm until I start plowing.
